Generate clean energy from your car park
No digging required
Low Cost to Install
Across the UK, thousands of car parks sit unused while energy costs continue to rise. Even modest solar car parks can generate significant on-site electricity, directly reducing reliance.
By removing concrete foundations and simplifying installation, our systems reduce upfront cost and delivery time, making solar car parks practical, affordable and commercially viable.
We believed there should be a better way.
Solar Car Park was co-founded by James Bramley and Jon Graham to unlock the potential of the UK’s car parks with a low-cost, simple and smart approach.
Our mission is simple: to deliver clean, renewable energy in a way that genuinely works for commercial organisations.
We’re not here to reinvent carports for the sake of innovation. Our focus is practical change: a system that fits any PV panel, deploys rapidly, future-proofs EV charging, and turns car parks into dependable, long-term energy assets.
Sustainability matters, but so does empowering businesses to reduce ever-increasing energy costs. That’s why our system is designed to work at any scale. Even a 10-bay solar car park can make a material difference to operating costs, while remaining fully scalable for larger estates.
That practical mindset is built into our DNA: delivering solutions that are commercially viable, easy to deploy, and accessible to organisations of all sizes.

Find out what your car park could produce, in one working day.
Solar car parks don’t need to be complex or slow to evaluate.
Even relatively small car parks can generate meaningful on-site power, helping reduce energy costs and improve payback expectations.
We can assess any car park and provide an initial layout, energy estimate and budget cost within one working day, with no obligation.
It’s a fast, practical way to understand whether a solar car park makes commercial sense for your business or organisation.
HOW IT WORKS
Ground-Screw Foundation
We install engineered ground screws directly into the car park surface.
Site evaluations may indicate helical piles as the optimal alternative, installed using the same process, installed in the same time frames at no additional cost.
No deep excavation or concrete is required.
The site remains clean, quick and disruption-free.
Engineered to Eurocode standards.
Installed 1.1m–2.3m deep depending on site conditions.
Each site screw type is pull-tested to certified load levels.
Full compliance documents issued to the client.
Each foundation pile is safety factored and tested, from 33Kn up to 70Kn.
Modular Steel Frame, Panel Mounting & Electrical Interface
A UK-fabricated structure is fixed to the ground screws.
A modular design allows the system to scale from small car parks to entire estates.
The solar car port structure can mount highest performing commercial panels, delivering optimal output.
Solar panels are mounted and secured to create a weatherproof canopy.
Power generation feeds into your building or future EV charging.
The structure uses carefully specified mechanical fixings rather than compression joints or welding, ensuring every component is fully rated, traceable and quality-controlled.
Integrated vehicle impact protection: a purpose designed protective doughnut is fixed to the central support, providing early detection for parking sensors and a physical buffer for vehicles without them, absorbing contact before a vehicle reaches the structural leg
Integrated EV Charging Option
EV charging integrates seamlessly into the solar car park structure, including high-power 22kW chargers.
Compared to standalone pillar or wall-mounted EV chargers, the integrated approach significantly reduces installation cost — avoiding separate trenching and groundworks that are disruptive, time-consuming and expensive.
All cabling is routed internally through the structure, reducing exposure to theft, vandalism and accidental damage.
Charging infrastructure is owned outright by the client, there are no third-party contracts.
Tariffs are set by the site operator, creating a potential new income stream or value-added service.
Suitable for hospitality, leisure and destination sites, as well as staff and fleet charging.
Supports fleet electrification, salary sacrifice schemes and employee EV adoption.
Solar generation can be prioritised for EV charging, maximising on-site energy use and reducing grid reliance.
Designed to scale over time, allowing additional chargers to be added as demand grows.
Avoids third-party EV charging models that require long-term contracts, revenue sharing, or detailed site feasibility based on passing traffic and on-site facilities, instead operating on a simple, low-cost management fee.
BENEFITS
Car parks are essential infrastructure for employees, customers and visitors, but they typically add cost without contributing value.
A well-designed solar car park changes that equation, transforming unused space into a source of clean electricity, lower operating costs and new revenue opportunities.
These are the core benefits that make our solar car park systems practical to deliver, cost-effective to own, and easy to scale across sites of any size.

Anywhere in the world.
-
In most cases, no. Solar car ports/canopies are specifically identified under UK legislation as qualifying for permitted development, rather than requiring full planning permission.
This means local planning authorities are required to determine applications within 56 days, compared to the standard 8-week (or longer) full planning process.
If your site is listed or located within a conservation area, full planning permission would still be required. We’ll advise on this early so there’s clarity from the outset.
-
No, you don’t need to contact your energy provider directly.
As part of our service, we manage the DNO application (Distribution Network Operator) on your behalf. The DNO is responsible for approving how new generation connects to the local electricity network.
Once the DNO has granted approval, no further action is required from you in relation to your energy provider. We’ll guide the process from start to finish and keep you informed throughout.
